Lower Goldwater Lake is a no-wake lake

Lower Goldwater Lake is a 25-acre lake that is a no-wake lake in the Prescott area. It’s named after Morris Goldwater, a former mayor of the city and uncle of the late Senator Barry Goldwater. The lake is easily accessible from Prescott via the Senator Highway or Mount Vernon Street south of Gurley. It lies within Prescott National Forest. As such, “watch for wildlife” signs are posted on the lake to keep out mountain lions and other predators. Various bird species also make the lake home.

The lake was created by a project in the early 1970s to divert water from the Colorado River to the lake. The dam transformed the lake from an agricultural project to a storage reservoir. In 1994, a new dam was built beneath the lake to increase its storage capacity. This dam’s completion resulted in an increased lake level, which didn’t reach its full capacity until early 2005.

Willow Lake is a 400-acre water surface area

The water level of Willow Lake fluctuates throughout the year, depending on the amount of rain received in each season. It is a great lake for canoeing and kayaking, and also offers a hiking trail on the western side. Visitors can also fish from the shoreline. The lake is located less than four miles from downtown Prescott, and is dog-friendly.
